ABOUT US

WHO WE ARE

WE ARE THE FOUNDATION FOR REFUGEE ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT
Foundation for Refugee Economic Empowerment (FREE) was formed in 2015 to address the immediate and long-term needs of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and refugees from communities affected by insurgency in Nigeria and around the world.
Our journey began in 2014 when a group of friends arranged a one-off donation of relief materials to the people of North East Nigeria who were affected and displaced by the Boko Haram insurgency. However, the enormity of the situation quickly became apparent and the group made a determined effort to have a lasting impact on the people who have been left without homes and access to the most basic needs such as clean water, healthcare, education and a source of livelihood.
FREE has spent years generating greater awareness of the situation of the millions of IDPs and continues to work tirelessly to raise funds in support. We provide relief materials to address immediate needs and also offer rehabilitative measures to address long-term requirements.
