Orphan Scheme

Adopt an Orphan

HOW OUR ORPHAN SCHEME WORKS

The project aims to assist children who have lost their parent(s) due to the conflict. There are hundreds of children, widowed mothers and grandfather who are settled in camps struggling to look after their families- the stories are heart breaking!

Using a holistic approach, each orphans family situation is assessed through extensive consultations. We work with the family to find solutions to support the orphan and guardians, the programme is then tailored to those needs. The process (EASE) is summarised below.

A full sponsorship of £180 per year or £15 per month will cover the cost of basic needs and education. It will also assist to economically empower the guardians to support their family. A field worker is assigned to the family who acts as the point of contact, monitors progress and provides an update on progress. Please email us for more information.

MEET AN ORPHAN

Rachel is a 12 years old, who had the horrific experience of watching her entire family being killed. She was reunited with her grandfather in Adamawa, who is retired and is struggling to provide for her.

Umar was born in January 2015, after his mother fled from Gwoza to Madagali on foot. His father was killed in that attack on their town and unfortunately his mother died in childbirth, delivering him.  He is currently being looked after by a guardian.
